Summary

NexusM is published under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). In short: free to download and use at home, no commercial use, and no redistribution of modified versions.

This makes NexusM source-available rather than open source. The source code is public and you can read it, but the licence does not grant the freedoms required by the Open Source Initiative definition, which include commercial use and the distribution of derived works. The website, the GitHub repository and the application all use this same wording.

What you may do

Under the licence you are free to:

Run NexusM for personal media management, on as many of your own machines as you like
Read and study the published source code
Share the original, unmodified distribution, with attribution and this licence attached

What you may not do

The licence does not permit you to:

Use NexusM in any commercial product, service or business context without written authorisation
Sell, rent, lease or charge a fee for NexusM
Incorporate NexusM code into other products without authorisation
Distribute modified versions, whether for profit or not

Commercial licensing

If you want to use NexusM commercially, contact the project. Commercial licences are granted case by case and can cover the uses the public licence excludes.

When sharing NexusM, you must:

Keep all copyright notices intact
Credit the NexusM Project
Include this licence with the distribution

This software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

In no event shall the authors be liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from the use of this software.

Termination

This licence terminates automatically if you breach its terms. On termination you must stop using NexusM and destroy your copies.
